finding my way around Gwangju

taxi drivers are the ambassadors of gwangju. they will take you anywhere and in style. things are different, no beat up yellow cabs here. you ride in style. shiny waxed dark colored cars with leather interiors and if your lucky some tricks such as a tv or quilted leather ceiling or blue lights in the door handles. today i saw a taxi driving with an baby on his lap. that's how safe they are! ok so the driver may be cutting through lanes of traffic, and stopping suddenly from being cut off by another cab, may be watching tv, and is definitely driving through red lights but all very safely. (unless you get motion sick, like me, in which case i just try to keep it together) the korean word for stop has 4 syllables and by the time i string them together, we've already passed where i want to be let out, or worse. but really the few cabs i've taken have been so luxurious especially with their aircondition-ed comfort this time of year.
